As a first gen Haitian American I was excited to take Haitian Dance and connect with a community that embraces Afroculture as well as connect with my ancestral traditions. In Santa Fe there isn’t a large Black Community.

I didn’t feel a sense of community, it wasn’t a warm environment. In fact the only person who came up to me was the only other black student.
I was hoping the instructor would elaborate on the meaning behind the ceremonial moves we were dancing.

It was strange to see my culture embraced but feel like such an outcast. That’s the strange thing about Santa Fe people don’t talk about…

The drummer were amazing! Thank you for sharing your beautiful rhythms!

Cool area, lots of things and places to visit. I actually went next door to the museum market and walked around outside looking at the other places. Very cultured area. Love this place
