Every apartment complex is going to have its issues. In the time I've been here there have been some setbacks on the premises due to mechanical issues or the fire that put residents out of being able to enjoy the club house or gym and pool. However that doesn't or shouldnt fall on the laps of office personell..moreso the outgoing owners for such an incredibly long remodeling process.!
Presently it's getting back to normal and will be under new ownership..hope they keep their tenants happy.
I'm not one to complain much and see beyond perfection, as there is no such thing.
With the exception of the gates malfunctioning, I feel safe and appreciate the environment here. It beats living in a complex where there's no regard for others. Everyone here that I encounter is pleasant.
I stay in my own lane and respect others as. Well. I choose to be positive when all else in this world is in chaos. Blessed to be safe here.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL--DON'T TRY TO RENT HERE UNTIL YOU READ THIS!!!
I tried to start the rental process three months in advance of my expected move-in date. I initially applied online, and provided my proof of income as requested during that online application process. When I was contacted by the office multiple times through the next two months, I thought I'd been approved to lease a unit at El Paseo. We reviewed my income, I got letters from previous landlords as requested, and had a move-in date of November 1st, 2024. Then it all fell apart.

WHAT THEY DON'T/WON'T TELL YOU: They will need a copy of a SSA benefit letter dated within 120 days if you are receiving Social Security benefits. If you don't have that, they won't approve you, regardless of how much financial information you provide from any other sources like tax returns or bank records showing SSA deposits, historically. Does. Not. Matter. Letter only--nothing else will serve. So, be sure you have that letter in hand, before you even contact the leasing office.

IN-PERSON HANDWRITTEN FORMS ONLY!! They will require you to go into their office to fill out multiple forms (sometimes multiple times) in BLUE INK by hand. While they will email you the forms, you are required to print them and hand write (don't forget BLUE INK) every single form. If you have arthritis, carpal tunnel, or anything else - does not matter. Forms cannot be submitted typed (whether in black or blue, does not matter). Forms MUST be handwritten, in BLUE INK. (If you couldn't tell, the color of the ink is a big deal - evidently something about proving it's actually handwritten, while forgetting that photocopiers print in color as well as black and white).

THEY ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY PAYMENTS EXCEPT BY MONEY ORDER/CASHIER's CHECK FOR DEPOSITS AND FIRST MONTHS RENT!!! So be prepared to produce those little pieces of paper - three separate ones. $100 deposit to say you'll rent (part of your security deposit). First month's rent. And security deposit. All. Three. Separate. Money. Orders.

They have four different stages, or phases, of their approval process, but they never tell you that to begin with, either. And they don't start the process until you agree to lease from them and give them that $100 money order. So, if they say you can move in within two weeks, it's B.S. Don't give your notice to move out of your old place until they hand you the keys for El Paseo.

Both their fax machines were down for weeks. Unable to receive the SSA letters the SSA was faxing to them. Did not tell me the fax machines were not working (twice, two different machines, two different apartment complex offices) until after SSA tried to fax the letter. Twice.

Through the entire process, they NEVER took responsibility for their equipment failures, for their communication failures, for their intransigent "compliance department" and the inability to make accommodations for physical limitations to filling out forms by hand (basal arthritis and carpal tunnel), admit when it was their equipment that failed, or acknowledge their ridiculous repeated requests for more and more documentation and verification and validation.

It's like you're trying to have a conversation with a 2-year old about how to change a tire. They. Just. Don't. Get. It.

It turned into a clusterf**k for me, I nearly ended up homeless as result. I decided that I didn't want to rely on their shoddy recordkeeping practices for my tenancy. I found a beautiful rental with a yard, one adjoining neighbor, in the NE Heights for $100/mo LESS, so God does provide, always.

The real cherry on the top was when Angelica said they couldn't even consider streamlining the process online, as then she wouldn't have a job. Seriously.

What a disaster that leasing office is!

They seriously don't respect seniors and disrespect concerns brought to their attention. Senior living is not true, they allow under 50 tenants to do what they want and blame the older tenants, saying the seniors are either lying or brush them off. Terrible place.

Elevators have been non-functioning since Christmas Eve 2023 I don't know how they expect the Tenants to get down from the second and third floor they said it will be fixed as soon as possible it's very hard for people like myself who have bad knees especially those who are in wheelchair I don't know why they're not fixed by now here we are January 2nd of 2024 and the elevators are still not working. I love living here but The company should have had someone fix the elevator by now. According to them the part is in order. Why don't they have a backup company 😕😕😔 fix them they was my reason I chose to move her because they have elevators for person with disabilities like myself.

This is where my husbands grandmother lives, and the building staff takes advantage of the older people living here, first hand I've seen that they lie to the residents about services they provide and have zero respect for the older people. My husband used to work for GSL properties and would never treat anyone the way these people are treating these people.

There was a serious fire at El Paseo Apartments over a year ago, that burned up the building that had the exercise room, community room, library, etc. Also the pool and hot tub were closed because of the fire. The fire damage still hasn't been fixed, after over a year!! Also, the elevator in one of the buildings broke on Christmas Eve, and it's now January 5th and it still hasn't been fixed. There are many residents on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building who can't use the stairs because of disabilities, so they've been stuck in their apartments for two weeks now! Unacceptable, especially in a complex that's for senior citizens. This used to be a nice place for seniors on a fixed income to live, but now it's become a run-down, burned out place with none of the amenities it used to have, and a non-working elevator in one of the buildings. They need to get this place completely fixed up immediately, it's become a hazard for the residents.
