Update in response to reply from owner:
I've updated the rating to 3 stars as 2 is probably too harsh. I'm not sure why their records are different than mine, but to be clear:

Our older dogs (Moxie and peanut, referenced in the owner reply) were born in 2018 and got their standard vaccines (parvo and others, as well as rabies) from their breeder and pound, respectively. Since then, Moxie has had one round of parvo/distemper because the vet did so without asking when she was spayed on May 13th 2021 (well over 3 years ago). She'a also had her rabies shots in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024. In addition to her puppy shots, peanut got dh-pp (parvo, distemper, etc) in 2021 because of a miscommunication with our vet at the time, but has also had her rabies in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024 (we changed vets in 2019 and moved in 2020, and both times the new vet wanted to do 1 year shots for new patients). Neither Moxie nor peanut have had anything but rabies shots since 2021. Any records indicating otherwise were not a result of information I or my wife provided, as we have invoices of every vet visit, and provided them on Moxie and Peanut's first visits. We have never been asked for any records for Moxie or peanut since we first began going to this vet, well over 2 years ago.

As for our puppies, Kessie, Samson, and PJ were born in November 2023, and we administered their initial parvo-combo shots (purchased at tractor supply) ourselves and provided pictures of the bags as well as certificates from the vet of all of our dogs rabies vaccinations at our first visit with the puppies, probably around a year ago. They are only just now out of "compliance".

I imagine the person at the front desk may have recorded this wrong and incorrectly indicated that Moxie and peanut also got the parvo combo in 2024, but that wasn't what was communicated. Additionally, Moxie and Peanut were apparently out of compliance with A Pets Life's policy as early as September 2022, as their last non-rabies shots were in May and September 2021 (Moxie and Peanut respectively), as indicated above. And, as indicated above, all records were provided on initial visit for Peanut and Moxie, and there was no problem for well over 2 years.

Again, some of this can be chalked up to clerical error, so it's partially forgivable. However, I still feel the 3 star review is warranted for 2 reasons:

1. The state of Georgia only requires rabies. Anything extra is silly. Rabies protects the people, so it makes sense to require it. Anything else protects the dogs. It's not your responsibility to make sure my dog is protected. If my dog catches parvo because I didn't get her vaccinated, that's my problem, not the groomer. If other owners are worried about their dog getting sick, they should get their dog vaccinated.

2. We should have been informed upon making our appointments that our dogs were out of compliance. We made the appointments in person at our previous appointment 2 months ago. This could have been cleared up in person with plenty of time to book with a new groomer.

My wife and I are sick about this because we have genuinely loved the staff at A Pets Life and our dogs seem to really like them as well. They do a great job, especially for the price, and they seem to really love the dogs. This is such a silly reason to refuse to see our dogs, and I don't appreciate how it was handled.

We'd be happy to let this go, change our review, and rebook our dogs after an apology and a change of policy. Until then, I feel 3 stars is fair.

Just took my pup to get her nails trimmed for the first time at a groomer. They were very friendly checking in and during the service. She was nervous but they were very reassuring to make sure she was comfortable and had a good experience.

I brought my sweet (but scared) tri-pawd Staffie mix here to have his nails trimmed. He is a very squirmy boy when getting his nails trimmed. Michele and the ladies at A Pet’s Life were AMAZING with him. They were patient, loving, kind and persevered even when my boy didn’t want to 😅 thank you ladies SO MUCH. We will be returning and recommending your services to anyone and everyone!

Not sure 1 star is appropriate. If you have a Schnauzer KEEP reading! If you are wondering about the grooming skills of the owner KEEP reading. This was my boy's first appointment. Scheduling over the phone and drop off went well. I was concerned about some matts Dash had on his legs and whether or not they would be able to leave the length. I got to talk directly to the groomer. He looked over Dash and told me they would not be able to save the length but would keep it as long as possible. I wanted contrast between Dash's torso and his boots/skirt. The groomer assured me that he could do that. A few hours later, I get a call from the owner. She said she knew I was concerned and a new customer, so she wanted to be sure of what I wanted. The groomer had a kidney stone attack mid groom and she was taking over. We talked at length about wanting a Schnauzer cut (the same details I gave the original groomer earlier). Leave the beard, mustache, and eyebrows. Just clean up around them. Legs as long as possible (due to matts)and short skirt, torso not too short (a 7 rather than 10) Hair cleaned out of pads. She asked for pictures of what I like just to be sure. I sent a text of a picture of Dash after his last grooming, and 2 others with info on what I liked. Then I get a reply he's short, short, short. I arrive to pick Dash up and all I could say is "He's too short!" Three times I said that aloud. By this time, I had already paid and tipped. I was told they weren't able to give receipts right now, but remember the price is usually $20 higher because my reservation fee was taken off. This next part is probaby worse (and it wasn't until retelling this experience with my husband did i realize it), because let's face it, hair does grow back. Without a receipt I have no record of a kennel cough vaccine brought in by me was given, nor do I
feel confident to ever really know.
Anyway, I get to the car and not only is he WAY BEYOND SHORT, they cut off most of his beard, mustache, and brows! It's EVEN lopsided! IMO grossly lopsided!
Be warned, I read the recent reviews and was excited to bring my baby here, not just for grooming but other services. I wouldn't go for free services! See the picture for yourself! Lopsided?! One of his eyebrows is almost gone.

We had to board our elderly dog who doesn’t do great at boarding. We got a call she wasn’t eating, and the lengths they went to in order to find things she wanted to have and make her comfortable were off the charts. They truly care about those dogs and I feel thankful she is looking out for mine.
