Jacob here, had an amazing 2 hour ride with my wife and the two seasonal guides. Great scenery and good conversation with the guides. Luckily the smoke from the north western wildfires had most cleared up so the view at their preferred picture spot was absolutely beautiful. Wife and I have only rode a couple of times and with simple directions it was not hard at all to know what to do on the horse!

The view on top of a horsebis beautiful here! I highly recommend visiting this ranch and taking a nice ride on the land. They have more than just 2 hour rides. If you like to hunt, this ranch will help carry your belongings upbthe mountains. By HORSE! It is so amazing. Definitely going back next year.

Absolutely wonderful place to ride and experience Colorados wilderness. All of the guides were wonderful people, including the new ones for the season. The meals were great and the company wasn't like having a paid guide, it was like being there with friends.

The horse were great, to the extent that is bring my daughter to enjoy this adventure. This isn't for the faint of heart. No running water, no electricity, and outhouses are your bathrooms. Anyone who expects a 5 star hotel, will be sorely disappointed but hose who love the wilderness, wildlife, good people, and a good adventure will have one amazing time.

I was there for 3 days and look forward to coming back for the 5 day trip.

We rode out on a 2 hour ride over Memorial Day weekend. Horses were responsive, even for early in the season. Guides are real Cowboys & Cowgirls. They know their stuff. They were all super nice, helpful and great with our 2 teens and even our ten year old. This is a real ride on a real ranch, so as a rider you have to listen to the guides, pay attention and do your part. If you come prepared and do those bits you should have a great ride. Last but not least... Mike, the head honcho, is a hoot!

My husband and I went on a 3 day pack trip into the Sangre de Cristo mountains with Bear Basin. We had a wonderful adventure and learned SO MUCH about packing. Mike’s cooking was incredible. I highly recommend taking a trip with Bear Basin - very professionally done and a great time!

Awesome horseback trip in the mountains of Colorado!
Bear Basin Ranch was a nice rustic outfit that really made us enjoy the environment and took care of all our needs.
Abigail (our guide) was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and had a passion for horses which was a real treat.

Mike and Autumn were fantastic! The trail ride was so beautiful going around Bear Basin and through the Aspen Grove with Autumn as our guide. She pointed out some interesting details about the abandoned mines, the Bear Basin property, and the Bear claws on the Apens. After riding for an hour, we were treated to an incredible dinner prepared by Mike and his Mom. The four of us were happy for another hour long ride after dinner to settle all the delicious food. We really enjoyed the incredible sunset on the way back. This is a ride we look forward to doing again!
