Things to do: Get your altitude training by doing sprints up the hills, take a picnic, or just enjoy the expansive views here. It has easy parking, and bathrooms are in the building. You can see the building down there by the parking lot. Can’t you?

Was cool. Way over crowded now. Might as well be a resort. There are plenty of other places to enjoy backcountry.

Love the drive up here from both sides! The pass itself has a large parking area, a winter warming house, restrooms, and some interpretive plaques on regional flora/fauna. You can hike trails starting from both sides of the road. The hike on the east side leads to Mount Flora, a beautiful trail with wild flowers, plenty of marmot & pika, and panoramic 360 summit views from RMNP to the Front Range to Mount Evans and beyond!

Crazy cool pass. There is weather on one side that is not on the other. Always come prepared and check the weather service. Also. It is very high in elevation. So if you are from sea level, you might want to grab a can of oxygen if you plan on stopping and hanging out up top.

Short trail that takes you to the top of the mountain that is right next to the parking lot with the weather station and radio equipment on top. The view overlooks many mountains and is very good to look at.

It looks like a short hike, but will take at least an hour to go up and down, and longer if you aren't from the CO area and acclimated to high altitude climbing. The winds can get a bit cold and strong towards the top even during the daytime. It was like that at least when I went up there this afternoon.

You won't need to bring much, except a camera, some water, and snacks if you get hungry easily. But I find that the cold at this time of the year pretty much kills hiking hunger for me so I just drink water.

There are many vault/pit toilets here, and no entrance fee to get to this parking lot.

P.S. if you like long ridge trails I would also recommend walking a part of the trail (not sure name) literally across the road - there is another pull out for it, but no trail signs or markers. You get to the ridge within the first mile.

Awesome hike and worth the climb. I would say it’s short and easy, but we are from Virginia and the altitude is no joke. Take your time and the views pay off. Very windy. We went around 9, were by ourselves going up but when we came down around 11 the entire parking lot was full. Go early!
