I wished I had taken pictures as proof of the size of Big Dog Boarding kennels which were small, too small for two large dogs. Our 2 large dogs, 61 and 92 pounds, were housed in the same wooden kennel that was approximately 4’ x 6’ with a cement floor and it smelled. There was a thin rubber mat on the floor for each dog, nothing else. Thank goodness we brought the dog beds and we brought the dog’s wet and dry food and toys. Big Dog provided water and air conditioning plus let the dogs outside 3 times a day for potty breaks. Can’t say our dogs received exercise since the outside space was approximately the same as the inside kennel. Big Dog’s website is deceiving making it look like the dogs had lots of space for exercise. Tom told me on the phone he wanted paid in advance which I had no problems with but when he said “cash” it should have been a red flag! Upon arrival I gave him $350 cash, however, we had to leave 2 days early because one of our dogs became sick after a couple of days. I asked for the overpayment of $100 but Tom only gave me $50. Upon arriving home I took my dog to the vet and was told he had conjunctivitis of the eyes and a staph infection on a hot spot on his skin. Did my dog have these health problems before arriving at Big Dog or after I don’t know but Tom clearly said it was before and he was NOT giving me the $50 he owed me. I do think Tom likes dogs and does his best but 2 large dogs housed in the same area need more space and a large area for exercise. I will not forgive him for cheating me out of $50. When requesting cash it does make me wonder if he reports the cash as income on his taxes.
