Amazing staff!!! You can tell they really love all pets and are knowledgeable about all of their products. They helped narrow down a good supplement for my dog who has multiple allergies (it was Progility and working great). It's great to see such a wide range of products too! If your pet suffers from allergies- come here to find multiple chew/food/supplement options.

AITHA?:

I visited this store this past weekend. After sending the following letter to City Dog Market I was blocked:

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an interaction I had at your Brookhaven location. During my recent visit, I inquired about Purina Pro Plan, only to be met with an unexpected and confrontational response. Rather than being informed that the store does not carry that brand, I was loudly criticized in front of other customers, with accusations that Purina's food "kills thousands of dogs" and has "had numerous recalls."

This response not only felt inappropriate and unprofessional, but it also seemed uncalled for, especially as I was simply asking a reasonable question. I would have appreciated a courteous answer, without the judgment or public reprimand.

Additionally, when I asked for the name of the person who responded in such an unprofessional manner, I was refused. I was told only, "I'm helping a customer," and was given no further assistance. As a customer, I feel that such behavior is unacceptable.

I trust my veterinarian, who frequently recommends Purina Pro Plan, along with other top-rated foods like Science Diet, for my healthy 3-year-old dog. Should I not trust my vet's advice? Should I not follow my doctor's guidance on health matters, such as prescriptions or dietary recommendations?

To help me better understand your store's position on this matter, I would appreciate more clarity on the subject of designer pet food brands versus more widely recognized brands like Purina Pro Plan and Science Diet. It would be helpful to know your store’s perspective on the nutritional quality and safety of these foods.

I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it was truly disappointing to be treated in such a manner. I would appreciate a thoughtful response to address my concerns and provide clarification.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Edit to Owner's Response:

1) The response provided seems nonsensical and doesn't properly address the concerns I raised. It appears to miss the mark, and I would appreciate a more thoughtful explanation on the matter.

2) I also feel that there’s an element of victim-blaming in the response, which isn’t helpful in resolving this issue.

3) Ask yourself: Would you, as a parent, use language that you're not proud of if your trusted professional told you that the food you're feeding your child is literally killing them? This may sound extreme, but the seriousness of the issue hasn't been addressed yet, and I believe it requires a more responsible and transparent response.

4) Greed is another concern. When it feels like business decisions are being made with profit as the priority over customer well-being, it undermines trust and loyalty.

5) I’ve noticed 4 Google reviews over the past year praising the washtub and $60 dog collars. While positive reviews are great, it’s important to remember that, as a local business, your customers deserve the same level of attention and transparency when it comes to all aspects of your products and services. It would be helpful if you could directly answer the question I’ve asked so we can put this matter to rest.

My pup and I will be back, and here’s why you should visit City Dog Market soon!

If you’re a dog parent looking for a go-to spot for your furry friend, City Dog Market is IT. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles. Here’s what makes this place a gem:

Customer Service: Antonio and Liz are absolute stars! They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly—not just to me but also to my very excited puppy. Antonio offered transparent advice about the post-holiday toy stock but I was still able to find two toys (I’ll check out their full selection another time). Both of them answered my million and one questions with patience and enthusiasm, offering tips on everything from ear care to treats. They even recommended a dog trainer who works with the store—something I’ll definitely explore. It felt like talking to dog-loving friends who really know their stuff!

Product Variety: Puppy heaven is real, and it’s here. They’ve got everything: cheek rolls, cow ears, raw chicken hearts, elk antlers, pork liver, training treats, and even birthday treats (& more)! The selection is seriously impressive, and I left inspired to introduce my pup to new foods as he grows. Antonio’s recommendations were spot-on—my pup is obsessed with the beef roll he suggested, and it’s been keeping him occupied for hours. (For reference, I also picked up a split elk antler, yak cheese, and salmon training treats.) Beyond snacks, they also have an excellent range of collars, harnesses, dental chews, flea and tick sprays, ear wipes—you name it.

Store Layout: The store is so well-organized! It’s easy to navigate, with clear sections for everything. No confusion, no clutter—just a clean and functional layout that makes shopping a breeze.

City Dog Market isn’t just a pet store; it’s a dog-lover’s paradise with top-notch customer service and an amazing product selection. Antonio and Liz, we’ll see you again soon—my pup and I are already counting down the days!

Highly recommend making a trip here—you and your pup will thank me later.

I had such an amazing experience at this store! I came in with our foster dog to check it out and the staff went above and beyond. We were able to get an appointment to get a bath which I highly recommend. They provide everything you need and it’s so much easier than doing it at home. The staff was really knowledgeable and super sweet. The store has a good selection and it’s surprising how much space there is for a lot of dogs and shopping people. I can’t recommend them enough. I will be back for my pets for sure.
