Tucker has come so far in his social skills away from home, gets the best care and is always happy at pick up and drop off. Absolutely love this place and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. So thankful we came across this place 2 plus years ago.

We were not impressed. Showed up to board only to be told that they could not board our male as his Bortatella was not renewed within 6 months. It’s an annual vaccine. Oddly the next kennel did not ask for more than the usual annual bortatella. No communication on this even though I sent vaccine records in. Staff unfriendly, probably plenty of standard customers, and not interested in new customers.

I wanted to share my experience with Country Home Kennels (CHK) to help others prepare for their stay.

From my perspective, communication and setting proper expectations were a challenge. We booked our stay well over a month in advance but did not receive any instructions beforehand as first-time boarders. During the initial call, we were told to bring "records of current vaccinations" at drop-off, but no specifics were given about which vaccinations were required or the frequency needed. I called the morning of our reservation to confirm what I needed to provide and was advised to have my vet email me the list (which was correct and appreciated). However, I was also informed that one of the vaccines was required every six months, even though my vet had recommended it annually. This was new information, but fortunately, our dog was just at the six-month mark and within that window.

After receiving the vaccination info from my vet, I took our dog for drop-off and provided the records. At that point, I was told he also needed the flu vaccine. Again, I was never given a specific list of required vaccinations beforehand. While I take some responsibility for not asking for a detailed list, I also believe it is the business's responsibility to provide that information upfront. I was informed that he couldn't stay without the flu vaccine and was advised to see if my vet could administer it that day. When I contacted my vet, they explained that they typically don't recommend the flu vaccine unless there's a breakout in cases, so it’s not commonly given. Additionally, even if my dog received the vaccine that day, it wouldn’t be effective until 14 days after the second dose (which occurs 2-4 weeks after the first).

I considered getting the vaccine and bringing my dog back, but I was honestly concerned that CHK might realize the ineffectiveness of getting it that day and decline to board him again.

On a positive note, the facility looked very nice, and the area where the dogs stayed appeared clean and welcoming. My main suggestion would be for CHK to send a checklist or welcome message via email (or even a text reminder) ahead of time, clearly outlining what is needed for the stay.

Fortunately, my vet was able to board him at the last minute without requiring the flu vaccine.

We have taken our Gracie here several times now and have nothing but good things to say. I truly believe they care, which is a big deal for us!
Whenever they've given Gracie a bath, she comes home so fluffy and clean - they do such a good job.

I just recently started using Country Home Kennels for their daycare services for my 9 month old puppy. everyone at country home is so nice and you can tell they love animals! I feel stress free when I drop my baby off for daycare and know he is being very well taken care of. I also highly recommend getting your pup groomed during there stay..my dog came home smelling so good and feeling so soft!!
One of my favorite things is I almost always see the owner down at the kennels when I’m either dropping off or picking up I love how involved she is. So thank you all at Country Home Kennels for being so great and taking such great care of my fur baby!!!!
