Emancipet literally saved my cat’s life. We were going to put him down after he ate a tiffs treats ribbon that was messing up his intestines. We couldn’t afford the 2.5k surgery they recommended, but our vet reached out to Emancipet to do his foreign body surgery for 1/5 the cost. Forever grateful.

I truly appreciate the mission of Emancipet and the work they do to provide affordable care to pets in need, but unfortunately, my experience at this location was extremely disappointing.

After checking in for a walk-in dental exam, we were told there would be an hour-long wait—which was fine. A staff member recommended we leave and come back later due to the number of animals present, so we went home (just 15 minutes away). Only two minutes after walking in our front door, we received the text saying they were ready for us. We immediately returned, but during the walk in, we were confronted by two aggressive dogs outside the entrance. I was carrying my dog to protect her paws from the heat, and I’m honestly not sure how I didn’t get bitten. The dogs’ owner was yelling profanities, including racial slurs, and talking about how her dogs were trained to fight. The situation was very distressing for me and my dog, who has anxiety.

While I understand that the behavior of the people outside wasn’t the staff’s fault, it set a very stressful tone. After checking in again, we waited another hour in the lobby. Once called back, a tech spoke to us briefly and then left to get the vet—but didn’t return for another 20 minutes. During that time, I looked around and noticed a used syringe on the ground, and what appeared to be dried blood spots on the floor. The cleanliness of the exam room was simply unacceptable. At that point, my dog’s anxiety had worsened and I decided to leave without being seen.

I understand this is a nonprofit and that many people rely on Emancipet’s services. But for those of us who are able and willing to pay more for a calmer, cleaner, and more controlled environment, this was not the right place. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend this location based on our experience.

First off let me just say everyone who volunteers and works for emancipet are angels. The service they provide at these prices to make sure all pets receive care is truly keeping thousands of animals alive. I’ve never had anything but 5 star experiences till this dental cleaning. If it were a normal clinic i would be giving them a 1 star.
I had a 8am appointment and the place was over flowing with drop offs. Just while I was there waiting there were 2 dog fights and my dog was lunged at leaving him so terrified he could barely be taken in. The vet tech was in a hurry pulling my dog around causing him to get even more frightened to the point he could barely even be taken back. He has never had a problem at any vet appointment before that is just how much the waiting area terrified him.
His teeth look amazing after his level 1 cleaning and you can’t find a lower price in the nation but in hindsight I would have been willing to pay twice as much for him to have not had that experience. We are having to work on retraining him due to how terrified he is of people taking his leash and other dogs now. I am still very grateful for this service as I know it will save dogs lives, it’s just not for my dog.

The Team is amazing. They are all very nice and take the time to explain everything. I brought my Dog (Opie) in for a dental and he had 4 teeth extracted. They answered all of my questions and I left feeling greatful for everything they did for me and my fur baby. Would highly recommend this place to anyone's that needs a dental or surgery done on there pet. The prices are extremely affordable and there are no hidden fees.

My dog had to have all his teeth out. Very good service if money is an issue but they service MANY. It's clean and efficient but you should be ready to wait(on the clinic side if your animal needs to be evaluated)and also ready to give and receive information quickly. They let me know multiple times when a sooner appointment popped up, which I really appreciated, they were very informative. Even though they seem to get animals in and out like a machine it didn't feel at all like I was just putting my dog on a conveyor belt to be processed. Ultimately I'm thankful for emancipet

Feel scammed by this place. I was desperate because my cat is in pain and needed full mouth extractions. heard about this place and they said they could do it for only $480. i was elated! i took him for a checkup and waited 2.5 hours to be seen. it was an hour drive there and back so he went to the bathroom in his carrier because we waited so long :/ i was happy regardless because they said i could have the extractions done. so i booked the surgery appointment. they never mentioned a time limit on the surgery before i booked. the day of surgery i took him in and dropped him off with a nurse who told me he may end up with no teeth depending on what the doctor thinks. i insisted this was perfectly good because his vet told me they all needed to be removed anyway. i dropped him off and once i drove an hour home i got a call from the vet informing me she wouldn’t be removing all his teeth due to “time limits”. she said she would remove his bottom teeth snd whatever else she could in 2 hours. and i said that’s fine. when i went to pick him up they informed me they only removed ONE tooth as well as some “roots that were left behind from a previous extraction”. i was super upset to hear they only took one tooth out. my cat is so uncomfortable he needs full mouth extractions. i feel like they failed to disclose to me that they’re limited on time with these surgeries. waiting to tell me until after he was already in their care was unprofessional. not to mention, the doctor telling me she would remove all his bottom teeth and then $500 later he only ended up with one removed? i feel like i was lied to and taken advantage of. my cat still needs the rest of his teeth removed. if i knew they weren’t capable of taking them all out.. i would have just taken him somewhere else so he didn’t need to have multiple surgeries and so i didn’t have to end up spending thousands of dollars taking him elsewhere anyway. i tried to penny pinch and save a few bucks around the holidays to make him more comfortable and all i ended up doing was costing myself more money, traumatizing him and further delaying his comfortability.

staff seemed friendly and this place might be good for other surgeries or for basic teeth cleanings but i’ve lost my trust in them for failing to be transparent with me from the start.

Update 1/13/25:
The lead doctor from the Emancipet surgery center reached out to me about this review and left a voicemail with their number to call back. I returned his call, left a voicemail, and never heard back or got a return call.
I have since taken my cat to his original vet to have the remaining teeth removed and when they did, they said there was a huge mass under his tongue that they removed and sent to the lab. there was no mention of this mass from emancipet when he had the first surgery, let alone a biopsy taken. the surgeries were only a couple weeks apart. the fact that the mass either went unnoticed or unmentioned.. is concerning.
