My wife and I brought our GSD puppy to Eric. From the very first interaction it was clear that him and everyone there absolutely LOVE dogs. They love caring for and training dogs, whether working dogs or family pets. What was even more impressive was the communication/ updates throughout the board and train process AND THE RESULTS. Our puppy is a family dog but our friends bring their working line protection dogs there for training as well - the work they do and results are second to none, regardless of your dogs needs.

I sent my girl here for a board and train program. Eric and his team were very attentive and routinely kept me in the loop on her progress while she was away. She ended up staying a little longer than usual, since Eric takes pride in his work, and he felt she would be where she needed to be if given a little extra time. My needs were a little unique, so Eric developed a customized program to address those needs. I'm very grateful to him and his team's help with my little girl.

Best board and train on island. We have used Hawaii Dog Training Academy twice now, once for their 3 week board and train and another for a weekend boarding. Both times Eric has treated our guy so good and we’ve seen amazing results and detailed instructions for when we go home. We gave him instructions on what our goals are and he provided our puppy Kilo with what we asked and more. Eric is well experienced and extremely knowledgeable and was able to educate my husband and I so much. He cares about the dogs on a personal level and treats them like they’re his own. He still asks for updates (: We will definitely be back to use his services next time we need it.

We enrolled our stubborn American Bully with Eric’s three week boarding and training program. We had to wait a few months because of high demand, but it was totally worthwhile.

Our Zeus was a different dog, very disciplined, compliant and well mannered. Hawaii Dog Training Academy does exceptional work, is highly recommended and without hesitation.

Zeus stopped pulling during walks, rather keeping pace, stopping when I stop and sitting automatically; he no longer gets overly excited around people, other dogs whereupon he would try to jump on them out of excitement; complies with all commands like heel, sit, lay, place: and is consistent, eager with recall while off leash.

We are extremely satisfied with results of the three week boarding/training program. Excellent job Eric and team. Again, highly recommended but encourage to book right away, or you’ll have to waiting for months.

The fact that people have the audacity to leave a four-star or one star review is mind-boggling. I’ve gotten to know Eric since moving to Hawaii and have recently been lucky enough to acquire a Belgian mal here on island. Eric has been phenomenal, not only with his expertise on Mals, but on his ability to train and care for his animals. We left my pup with him for a board and train for three weeks, and then again for a board for three days and both times I was more than pleasantly surprised with the results. Eric creates a Dropbox for you to keep track of the dogs progress along with texts to you personally when there is updates! He goes above and beyond in regards to training by creating videos that are similar to one’s found on YouTube for training, and the best part is the star is your animal!

I’m seeing reviews on yelp and even here on Google that are simply false and inaccurate about this business. I have nothing but positive things to say about Eric and Hawaii dog training Academy, because they have taught my dog everything he knows! We will continue to use him and leave five star reviews, because that is what he and this business deserves!

We've known Eric for several years now due to both of us being active in dog sports. We've seen how hard he works and how dedicated he is to the training of his own dogs and the dogs of his clients. Which is shown through his many accomplishments. He is also just an all around great guy in general.

So when we were about to have our first litter of Working Line German Shepherd puppies, I knew that I wanted to provide the new puppy owners an opportunity to attend an obedience class to help them train their pups to be productive members of society lol. So of course I went directly to Eric to see if he'd be willing to hold a group class for my puppy buyers. Not only was he willing to but he was genuinely excited and happy to do it.

The pups and their owners went through a 6 week course that went over engagement, luring, sit, downs. place, loose leash walking, recall, etc.. and those who were committed to training with their pups saw a real improvement in how they were able to communicate with their pups and how their pups behaved. He was also there to answer any questions they had and will still help answer any questions they may have even though the class has finished.

I would recommend Eric any day and will for sure be going back to him when we have another litter of pups.

We board and trained our dog Mugi for the 2 week program while we were out of country. Mugi is stubbornly smart and cute which lead us to unwittingly encouraging bad behaviors such as leash pulling, dog and person reactivity, and resource guarding. Off the bat, Eric made it clear that he knows how to handle dogs, and with his extensive resume and exclusive (seriously awesome) training facilities out in Waimanalo, we were quickly inclined to believe him.
When we picked Mugi up from her 2 week board and train we were offered a demonstration and walk through of key commands that she learned over stay. Upon returning and having had Mugi back home for a day now, we can confidently say that Eric is a dog guru!
She is now able to walk without pulling, we are able to have her stay in place without moving for extended periods, and do not have to worry about her reacting to other people or dogs. Additionally, Eric and his team have provided us with methods and instructions for handling Mugi's resource guarding behaviors that other instructors/businesses did not even want to address or attempt to.

We will definitely be using Hawaii Dog Training Academy in the future, and can't wait to continue our journey and training with our dog Mugi.

I sent my little dog to Hawaii Dog Training Academy for a 2 week board and train. We have had some behavioral issues with our dog and we needed some help to train. Eric was extremely helpful from the very first telephone call. He took the time to listen to my concerns and explain the training process. He was also very honest and realistic about what training goals and expectations should be. While my dog was living with Eric, he gave me updates and sent me picture of how my dog was doing. Even after my dog was returned to me he frequently checked in with me to see how the training was continuing at home. I've been struggling with some regression in training. I let Eric know and he offered to meet up for a refresher session. He's extremely knowledgeable and helpful, super easy to work with. I would recommend Hawaii Dog Training Academy for your training needs. One of the better trainers that I have worked with for my pups.
