Horrible!!! Went in for labs today 07/23/24 ended up waiting for an hour I was number 10 meanwhile people that came in after me went ahead of me..when they called number 14 I nearly lost it and complained how did 11 12 13 and 14 go ahead of me?! Somebody obviously dropped the ball or just didn't like the way I look or something..All I know is Ka'u Hospital is the worst labs ever! How did they do? They did very very poorly that's how they did.

My husband took our daughter here last night and they were so kind, and quick. My whole family seems sick at the moment so it was nice to bring my daughter somewhere since she was vomiting. They treated her for that and made sure she was all around good. I was nervous they may not be able to since she is 2 years old but it sounds like my daughter also had a great time and was in an overall good mood leaving the office, that's a first!

From the front door where the staff is friendly and offers the use of a wheel chair, to the emergency room, service where the nurses and doctor are compassionate and friendly, this hospital is great. Sure, the services are limited, but when I have taken my family, they have always been well taken care of. Blood tests have been ordered in the middle of the night, and x-ray machines have been available around the clock. This rural hospital works well with what it has!

I took my son to the ER for a possible broken toe. This was our first time utilizing the Kau general hospital services.
The staff and services were first class. From the staff at the front desk, RN April, Robert from the radiology department, Ti, and Dr. Larson.... all were competent, very friendly, knowledgeable and timely. The entire process took less than 2 hours (including x-ray and results). Great experience and will certainly use them again if needed.

On multiple visits, the Pahala Hospital has always exceeded our expectations in every way. From annual visits to X-rays for broken bones, the staff has always been professional and prompt. A wide range of services are available at this rural location. Special thanks to Dr. Cano from Maui!

For the ER (broken rib): From checkin to checkout; speedy, courteous, thorough service. Even got a followup call the next day to see how I was doing. Will be exploring possible PCP options at this facility.
(Update: Because I could not find a physician to see me for the prescribed followup analysis, I went back to the ER, and they were happy to provide me with the service; with all the same quality as the first visit 🙂 )

Really great ER! Took the 4 year old in for chin laceration and they got us right in. The nurses were super kind and cheerful and had us all feeling comfortable. Dr Lewis was fantastic and took such good care of my little one! Had him laughing and forgetting about his injury in no time. Very clean and professional place! Thank you, Ka’u hospital!!! ❤️

This is a remote healthcare facility. It is very expensive to use. The care is not complete. This place has very limited diagnostic equipment. The physician is not on site. They call the doctor, you wait. After seeing the physician, I was sent home very ill, vomiting and the next morning had to drive 80 miles to ER in Hilo where I was immediately admitted to the hospital with a very serious infection. I was told I wasn't sick enough at Ka'u Hospital, I was misdiagnosed and told to have follow up about three weeks later with my PCP also at this facility. To my surprise, my follow up appointment was cancelled because my PCP went on vacation. I was told one day before my appointment. I still have had no follow up for a very serious problem. This is inappropriate. I would consider this place an "Urgent Care" center. I had to pay more than $1000.00 for use of this facility. That is too much. Just drive to Hilo, save yourself time and money and suffering. When you get to Hilo, you may find substandard care there as well. Healthcare is marginal on the Big Island. Very scary place
