I will follow Dr. Thornburg wherever she goes! She has been our vet for 4 years for a few of our rabbits. She has done 2 neuters & 1 spay for us and even walked us through an accidental litter. Our buns were in such great hands! From checkups, the actual surgeries to removal of stitches, follow up calls, wounds, nail trims, meds, questions, whatever it was; Dr. Thornburg gave lots of reassurance & gentle, confident care. She never made me feel wary. Rabbits are considered “exotic” pets so they require someone more specialized & knowledgeable in them. And that she is! I can’t sing her praise enough 🙂 Thank you Dr. Thornburg!!!

Amazing, friendly staff! They took great care of me about hearing my concerns and not pressuring me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with for my dog. Made me feel heard and they took amazing care of my little doggy.

We found Kailua Pet Hospital after moving the Windward Side and they provided the kindest, most responsive and best care for our 16yo chiweenie Kanani for the last few months of her life. They sent us a condolence card signed by the entire staff after we had to put her to sleep. Highly recommended.

Im so glad I was able to get into this clinic the day I called!

Back story - I used to bring my old dog here years ago. When my family came back from Japan with a new dog, this office wasn’t open.

My dog was not acting like his usual self. His normal vet could not see him. I was told I needed to call around to other offices. I noticed Kailua Pet Hospital was open and decided to call. The gentleman who answered the phone at the front desk was so helpful and got me in within an hour. Dr. Thornburg was amazing and my dog felt comfortable with everyone in the office. It was decided that my dog more than likely injured his neck. We were sent home with meds that visit to help him feel more comfortable. Thank goodness he was able to be seen and the doctor figured it out, because he was in so much pain and the next day he was feeling so much better.

I would like to tell you guys about my great experience with these guys. Even tho I never went in

So on the island, I thought the only place that has a small animal Veternarian was Feathers and Fur, and even tho they have a wonderous facility and do an amazing job. They are a bit pricey

So now to where I was at.

I had a 4 week old bunny who had contracted some unknown disease.

I was hoping to find a more affordable veterinary service, so I had been calling around all day.

When I finally found these guys!!

I called about an hour before closing hours, and they booked me for their small pet Veternarian for two days from now.

The lady on the phone was so sweet and understanding, she helped calm me down and told me their prices which were cheaper than Feathers And Fur!!

She was SO helpful!!

The next day, they called to let me know they had an opening, but unfortunately, I was unable to make it.

Unfortunately, my baby, Sniffle, the baby rabbit, died overnight.

I was distraught, I had tried everything I could to keep her alive, at least until the vet checked her out so I knew what was wrong.

The next day, the original lady called to remind me about my appointment, and I had to break the news.

She was so kind and understanding, and she helped me feel less guilty over the passing of my baby bunny.

I am so grateful to staff over here at Kailua Pet Hospital.

And I will be taking any future pets to them guaranteed because if their Vets are as awesome as their secretaries, they must be truly phenomenal! 😊

Do not see Dr. thornburg. She has the worst bedside manner and attitude that I have ever come across. She comes off like she does not care about the well being of your pet. Multiple times I have heard he talking in a disrespectful disgusting tone and saying the most rude things when I was in the exam room and she was in the back room. You can easily hear through all the walls. I had wonderful experiences with the rest of the staff but I do not want to bring my dogs to a vet office where I feel that there is a doctor that will not give them the best treatment or care about their well being and comfort. Please seek pet healthcare elsewhere to avoid any upsetting interactions with Dr.T.

The vets at Kailua Animal Clinic have worked tirelessly to keep my golden retrievers healthy and living their best lives!!! My dogs love to go there (thank goodness!) and start wagging tails when we pull into the parking lot! That says so much for the care and comfort they receive there. So my dogs and I give them 5 stars!
