They took great care of my father-in-law. They were thorough and provided a comprehensive plan for his discharge home. It was always easy to get ahold of someone to help with questions when we needed to call. He enjoyed the food during his stay and liked the staff.

Beware, the administrator, Shahawnee, will lie about things you have told her, twist your words, and swear that it is gospel. She put words in my mouth on a recorded phone call on my end, with two adult witnesses present. My father has been in their Care on three different occasions, after being discharged from hospitals, he's in his late nineties, and recently broke his hip. He was placed there for rehabilitation, which they have been very relaxed about providing, and now claim that he has reached the level of rehab required for him to be able to go home, which is not true. They have been very lax in their rehab standards, and if he tells them that he doesn't feel up to it one day, they just let it go. I told him they will need to be firm, he has never been one to deal with a lot of pain, and they will need to push him to get him to follow their rehab instructions. They assured me they would do that, but have not, and now tell my elderly mother that she needs to find a place for him to go, because even though she is now making a huge co-pay for him to be there for the time he is there now, they don't want to keep him, and are now suggesting sending him to another facility, whether or not my parents can afford that. The woman would not let me talk, and then insisted that I wasn't letting her talk, the tempo of the call became more heated, and I actually let a couple of words I wish I hadn't, slip out of my mouth, but I was pushed to that point, at 67 yrs old. So long story short, this place seems to have gone downhill from where it was several years ago when we went there, and my dad had been there for the first time. This year during the holidays, I had one of the people in another room ask me if I could find him some help when I passed his door, as he'd been calling for help for over 45 m. When I got to the nurses station, one of the nurses was asleep with her head laying sideways on the counter, and the other girl next to her was playing video games on her phone, even while buzzers and lights were flashing with calls. When I told the girl with the phone games that if she didn't attend to the man that I had just spoken to who had been calling for help, that I would attend to him myself, and call the police to take a report about the matter. She immediately went into the room. Then on New Year's eve, when I wanted to wish my father a happy New Year but couldn't go to the facility, I called to leave him a message, and the woman answered the phone by saying one word, "what"?! When I asked her if this was Piedmont, she said yes who is this, I told her who I was and who I was calling for, and she said "so what do you want me to do about it"? I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she kept demanding that I tell her what I wanted to talk to them about repeatedly. Finally, somebody must have overheard the call, and took the phone from her, and I told her I wanted to speak to the nursing supervisor, who she got for me. (Larry) Now Shahawnee acts like she knew nothing about that from the nursing supervisor, and when I called again last night, I got the same woman answering the phone. Shahani told me that she had to addressed the situation, and the woman would not be answering the phones again. I made it clear to them that I was not trying to cause problems, these were observations I thought they might learn from and be able to train their staff better with, and that was our intention alone. Ever since then, they have been hell-bent on getting my father out of there, whether he is rehabilitated enough to go home with my mother, or not. My mother is a chemotherapy patient, and has severe heart issues, and is basically running on borrowed time, and she cannot be somebody who is a nurse maid to my father, if he is not ready to come home yet. If he fell / needed help, she would not be able to assist him. Our critiques were offered as a learning tool, we did not report to governing agencies. Therefore, their retaliation is disgusting! Beware! If anything happens to change my opinion in any way, I will update or delete this review.

Rehab facilities have their struggles that seem to be omnipresent for all of them.

I want to give a shout out to Cee and Alizay for their help and attention to details. They are 5 star employees and I hope the company properly recognizes their contributions to the company, patients, and families. Thank you!

The day workers are nice. But at night the workers are rude and less attentive. They gave my aunt her meds. When she asked what they were they told not to worry about it and just take them. Missed doctors appointment because of lack of organization. They forgot to include paperwork when sending her to the ER.
They always apologize after a screwup. There is just no recourse. Lots of lip service. No follow through. Try to avoid this place.

The staff and workers here are so awesome, they are very nice And very respectful. They sure take pride in there work, though helping there patients including me is spatacular. They make sure you feel welcomed and cared for. This place really does care about you. Definitely recommend this place to people who need it in the future.

My grandma and dad were both patients here for over a month each. The food was absolutely terrible and borderline inedible. The staff was hit and miss. My dad was released before he should have been and immediately had to go back in to rehab (at a different facility). His surgeon was furious they released him so early. My grandma ended up getting released and her new care facility found a large bed sore on her and stool that had been left on her back for days! Don’t send your loved ones here!!!

When moving my mother in law into the facility in approx. April 2019 I and our family were very concerned. My mom said that she would not interact with others she ate all meals in her room she was not happy at all. To her roommates family members she would say “ It’s my daughter in laws fault that I’m even here” It made me feel horrible. She was living with my husband and I prior to this and we both worked full time jobs. Leaving our house at 3 30 AM and at times not getting home until after 5 PM. There were times we would find her on the floor where she would have been for hours. I work in healthcare myself and I know the struggle for families to move a parent out of a home. When moving her into this facility I felt that she would definitely start having failure to thrive. Then after approx 4 months or so, she began to blossom like a beautiful rose. She started eating all meals in the dining room, going to every bingo game and then every craft. It became so great that we now can’t even call her on her phone because she will never answer it (not because she don’t want too) because she is SO busy that she is never in her room. She loves that she has new roommates every couple months. She takes all of them under her wings. This has made my husband and my sister so happy. It is such a blessing that we don’t have to worry if she is going to be sad, mad, lonely or hurt. We want to thank the exceptional care that Marquis has given our mom. The hard work that they do on a 24 hour basis is amazing. They always keep in contact With us regarding her care and all of her needs.
I haven’t even heard her complain too much about the food which really doesn’t happen in any kind of a facility. So on behalf of my family I would like to say Thank You and God Bless to all the nurses, office staff, cooks, management, and anyone I have missed that takes the time to care for residents at Marquis Piedmont.
