The Governor Who Governs Through Chains, Not Justice

Behind the polished speeches and press conferences, Michigan’s governor operates a machine of modern oppression—using outdated administrative codes to enforce civil death, economic slavery, and forced silence.

People like me have been trapped for decades under 1992 license reinstatement rules never subjected to lawful hearings, never updated for ADA protections, and never aligned with federal constitutional mandates. These policies strip poor, disabled, and recovering citizens of mobility, dignity, and due process.

And what does the Governor do? She defends it. Funds it. Expands it.

This isn’t leadership—it’s legacy management for the ghost of Senator Patrick McCarran, whose ideology of administrative white supremacy still echoes through Michigan’s civil code. The governor has become a custodian of peonage, not a liberator of people.

To those suffering, don’t expect rescue from this office.

Calling the Governor for justice is like calling the arsonist back to the burning house.

We need a leader who breaks the chains—not one who welds new ones behind closed doors.

It’s time to get Gretchen out, state agencies are pure trash, and arenon a rapid decline, approved for Childcare for over a year, they never paid a cent, gave them the information they requested then told I didn't qualify after I was already told I was approved for 80 hours per week! After spending over $8,000 on daycare over a course of 6 months was never reimbursed, and then contacted Gretchen’s office via e-complaint no help, no response, no course of action. Looks like it’s time for a Republican, so we can get some resolve. Made several complaints about the Greydale District Office and their incompetence and lack of professionalism, what does she decide to do, take the phones out so there is no direct line of contact to your worker. No supervisors ever available, no accountability, then you escalate the issue to her office and you finally see where this all stems from. Time to move we need a more effective logical governor, critical thinking governor. Don’t even get me started on the $30,000 worth of unemployment I earned and worked for but never received during the pandemic. Republican states ran by Republican governors GOT THEIR MONEY! But I have heard COUNTLESS, Michiganders tell me the complete opposite! Sad, I votes for her and thought she was for the people, I have no idea who she’s for, but it’s not for us we need Republican governor to get things done like the other republican states

Since I cannot get through to anyone at the UIA, I share my rant, here. The Michigan unemployment agency is the effin' worst. I can't collect , they tell me, since I am unable to work or look for a job and under doctor's care , since September....after having open heart surgery and off of work, then, they have me file a transition claim and say I am eligible,but from the month of November on, only and when I certify, after doing everything I am supposed to do,I am told, by the system,that THOSE weeks are also, ineligible..then, I try to set up a phone appointment...am given the last appointment,which was for next week, then the system tells me that time slot is not available, anymore ...next one is December/January....then i try to call them, and use their call back system, which they do manage to call back, an hour later. Mind you, you have to place that call right at 8am to get the service. I pick their call up...and I can hear the people in the background, but no one is answering my "hello", which I scream for 5 minutes..and then the call gets cut. I try ALL of their services, in order to reach someone..to no avail. Needs work, to say the least.

So WHAT exactly does our Government AND their "branches" DO in their positions I cannot reach a HUMAN at Governors office...Food and Drug Admin...Dept of AG....Health and Human Services...NONE OF THE ABOVE...to ask WHY I cannot order an item from AMAZON...... that I have ordered many times...and had shipped to MY HOME...and NOW SUDDENLY..."item cannot be shipped to your location"...ALL I GET is recorded announcements with info to "file a complaint".WHERE are ALL THESE folks that MAKE POLICY...That SHOULD be available to ANSWER QUESTIONSLooks as if THEY are ALL off spending TAXPAYER MONEY and NOT IN THEIR WORKPLACE DOING what WE-THE PEOPLE.....put them there TO DO!!!!....Been ON HOLD for hours...just to get a recorded announcement telling me to FILE ONLINESounds like ALL THESE FOLKS have a SWEET DEAL?Insurance...Paid absence...cars AND phones....yata yata yata....To galavant around and DO NOTHING!!!...WE SURE NEED CHANGES!!!!

2023 update. Even with a preponderance of evidence, it behooves me how The Center For Forensic Psychiatry built 19 years ago with 19 years of documented water damaged and Mold, that is affecting the health of staff and patients is allowed to contine 24/7 normal operations? While most state facilities are evacuated to do proper remediation and to prevent further exposure and death.

I have paid off my college account with grand valley state University multiple times yet they still send me letter stating I still owe them money. Can you please tell Grand Valley State University to please stop sending me mystery bills?

I have been calling for 28 days for unemployment benefits, no one is there, their auto phone system does not work and I have called the governors office 40 times, spoke with someone 3 times and they said someone would call me? No one had?
Totally not ready for this, very poor management.

I never received renew car registration letter, so my registration expired and I got a ticket which asked me to pay $130. I wrote a letter to Governor Gretchen Whitmer and suggested government system to use letter / email / phone text message to inform people that their cars need renewing ahead of time, but I got no answer from Governor. It seems that governor doesn't want to help Michigan people.
