Wonderful experience everyone I came in contact with was genuinely nice and helpful. The shelter was nice and clean. All the animals were clean I wish I could’ve taken them all. But they helped me to adopt my handsome purebred mini Schnauzer Teddi thank you so much. He is a wonderful addition to our family ❤️

I returned 3 dogs who were not potty trained and they were going in the house. It’s been two weeks and I haven’t received my money back yet. They took the money off my debit card so they suppose to put it back on there. I don’t get it but the end of February of 2025, I will be seeking legal action against them. They are crooks and told me I will be getting a check mailed out in 7 days. I called back after 2 weeks and they changed it and said it takes several weeks. If it was their money they would want it too. 😔 sad!

We just adopted the best dog ever! We now own the sweetest, most loving Black Lab. His new name is Maverick. The folks at Newton Co. Animal Shelter were amazing. All super friendly, especially Amanda. Thank you all for Maverick! And your facility is superb. Cleanest animal shelter I have ever seen!

I wish I knew I was going to be set up for failure by adopting a pet here. My sweet baby was adopted 2 days ago and they never told me what food they had him on and he’s been throwing up all day today. They don’t know much on the animals, he was neutered and no pain meds were given, he just got a 3 day shot. My dog was also severely matted and it’s just been extremely frustrating as a first time owner. Getting a new puppy is supposed to be a happy thing and it’s been nothing but stress. When I got him, he was covered in poo. I had to bathe him immediately and that probably worsened the matting he already had. Please inform new pet parents on what’s going on, food etc if you want to continue this business.

the most rude, unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with!! We’ve had an ongoing problem with a dog in our neighborhood for MONTHS, they refused to handle the situation, even after my kids bus driver was even having to make calls to them! SEVERAL videos and pictures have been given to them about this dog.
I finally got fed up after months and told them they needed to do their job, so they sent a lady to MY house who threatened me, screaming at me, and tried to take MY dog for complaining. I wish I could upload the video! Teach your workers how to speak to people and do yalls job!!

I think people need to understand that this is a government run animal shelter, and they have limited supplies, staff as well rooms for all the animals that come in. They do try to outsource to other shelters but if they cannot make room then, sadly yes animals have to be put down. We took in this pretty pittie that was on the risk list(to be put down) and she is amazing !!! Sadly people will go on a wait list for the puppies or more desirable dogs(one dog has FOUR PEOPLE) and not even give the ones that have been there the longest a chance. You have to understand that these people are so kind and loving and this their job is HARD.
