Buyer Beware! Chuck Adams was the primary person who spoke to me. We had a phone conversation about the goals of my 6-month-old 4 lb doxie. He told me to sign up for the 4-week board and train to build her confidence, and they would provide all of the skill building she would need in the 2-week program (sit, down, come, stay, walk on a loose leash, sit at the door, no jumping, no mouthing, no biting) and she would most likely be off-leash to come home. He further explained she would receive a lot of socialization and they would take her with them when they ran errands. I was told only to bring her puppy food and was asked how much I feed her, I watched Chuck document 1/3 cup per day, twice a day.
I checked in on her during board and train since I never received any communication from them otherwise. Imagine my shock and horror when I arrived to pick up my "trained" puppy and saw her elevated in the room as if she were a parrot sitting high in a stand. She whimpered in her crate the 2 1/2 hours I was while Robin Adams explained many things about other dogs and her lack of time to care for mine. I ran into Robin at the bank, not one dog or puppy with her for socialization. She told me they cut her puppy food from 2/3 cup per day to 1/3 cup per day because she was eliminating too much. She is a tiny puppy and any trainer should expect this situation. I was NEVER contacted about changing her diet. She is small for her breed and we were following the advice of my veterinarian and the manufacturer's bag label, which clearly states 2/3 cup per day for her age and weight.
Robin and Chuck Adams told me the only command the puppy was taught was "sit" and to teach her how to sit, Robin said would stand in front of her elevated kennel, have her “sit” and "free" a few times, my puppy would receive a treat through the kennel grate, and finally would put the bowl in her kennel so she could have the rest of her meal. Chuck "walked' the puppy on the leash, which she was running as fast as she could to get to me (for good reason) and they had me tell her the sit command 6 times, next they gave her the sit command 9 times before she actually sat. The entire time, they were popping her leash and flat collar.... a flat collar on a 4 lb puppy?! I was asked to leave her an additional two weeks. Why? So they could completely starve her? Oh, and she was never potty trained. Chuck sent a text message saying the puppy would still “not tell (them) when she needed to go potty”. How/when would she since they told me she was on a potty schedule.

I could not ask for better trainers or people to help my pup. I signed Winston up for a 4 weeks of in kennel training where a lot of time was invested on Robin's part just building a relationship with him. He is a very defensive (appears as aggression) pup who was only 7 1/2 months old. Most people would have said he was not trainable because he was to aggressive. Chuck and Robin both said it was possible to train him he would just need a lot of work. He ended up straying with them for 5 1/2 weeks where many of his behaviors were identified. Throughout his entire stay at Pap Paws I was always kept in the loop with texts, pictures and videos of updates on his progress. Since he has been home he is much more calm. When I picked him up we also immediately signed up for obedience classes. Winston and I started in September and worked our way to level three rather quickly based on Winston's history. Both Robin and Chuck are very knowledgeable and love what they do. Their love for dogs is very obvious! Winston gets excited every time we get close to Pap Paws. Robin and Chuck have not only helped Winston's confidence to grow but they have also taught me how to be a better dog owner. If you even think that your dog (no matter the age) could or would benefit from training, regardless if it is obedience, agility or therapy, look no further. These folks know what they are doing and no how to get results without yelling or beating your dog. They have a very positive and firm approach and dogs love them as much as they love the dogs.

Wonderful training experience. Each step in training is gone over and explained until you get it. If you want to have proper dog training at seriously reasonable price, this is the place. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

My GS Gunner was trained by Chuck and Robin and they are fantastic trainers.Gunner is both very obedient and attentive to all commands. People never doubt these two. They are very professional and have the gift of knowing dogs. I trained in my younger years and they are spot on. Sometimes the owners of their dogs need more training than their dogs!

I had no idea how much fun it could be to have a reliable, well trained dog. We used Pap Paws for a general obedience class followed by a Therapy Dog class. Batman (black lab) and I had the best time learning each other and how fun it was to learn in each class. Is it work? A little. But I'm now confident in my dog and trust him as he visits students in an elementary school. Everyone loves him and his manners. Highly recommend Pap Paws and can't wait to enjoy more classes in the future.
