The care I received at the Portland VA Medical Center was exceptional. I had surgery on my hip. Dr. Wallenberg, his team and the entire hospital staff displayed a high level of professionalism and made me feel comfortable and safe throughout the visit. From check-in to check-out everything was wonderful. All the nurses, including PT and OT staff, were very attentive, knowledgeable and organized. Thank you so much!

The most inconsistent and incompetent pharmacy staff I’ve ever seen in my life, my husband has been on a specific medication since November of 2021! and every single month he goes to pick up his prescription the staff argue with him on wether or not it’s for pick up or mail delivery. Which it has never been sent by mail. The only positive I have to say about the va is my husband’s doctor who he has a great report with is the only reason he chooses to continue care! Do better and train your pharmacy staff properly instead of hiring to meet some type of quota!

WOW!! Is about the word I can say about this Veterans Hospital in Portland. Very nice facility with an amazing view of the mountains! My husband works at the Portland VA and so happy this facility is in good clean condition to take care of our veterans. I can’t speak from a patient or veteran point of view but this is a very nice facility.

So, I've been to several veterans hospitals emergency rooms from Oregon to Massachusetts and I've come to the understanding that no matter what, you can expect a wait. The same was here but add in that it was a holiday and actually it was a rather short wait. My nurses were very friendly and my doc, a great help getting done what I needed. Not to mention the fact that it is in a beautiful location and the drive up, enjoyable, if you are in a state to enjoy it.

I have had some very good care lately. Thought I'd mention it. Podiatry was awesome. She was young yet experienced. Her friendly & relaxed demeanor helped me relax and feel glad I was there . All seems to be healing now, 2 Weeks làter

My experience discharging from labor and delivery was absolutely terrible. I had twin girls and nobody offered to help me and my fiancé out of the hospital. Nobody offered me a wheelchair or anything and I had to walk after just giving birth 2 days before. When we got downstairs I gave up and we had somebody call labor and delivery to come help us but nobody showed up. We had them call again but still nobody showed. So my fiancé had to carry one car seat with one hand and push me in a wheelchair with his other hand while I held the other car seat on my lap. These people are terrible. I was in so much pain by the time I got to my car.
Oh and when I asked for extra supplies to help me heal I was told that they were running low on supplies.

Reach out to your local Congress Reps they will help!!!
Having the VA make you wait months for care is NOT acceptable, when you ask for the mission act (they have 30 days to get you seen or send it out) to be referred out to the community only for them to give you some bs reason to deny you.This is by far one of the worst VA's I have been at as far as them helping you get appointments.

As a veteran of the U.S. military living in Portland, Oregon - I am continually impressed with the grace and care of every individual employed at The Portland V.A. offices across Portland.
As a longtime patron of a “big box” health insurance corporation, I have switched most of my real medical needs into the trusted hands of The V.A. whom have indubitably protected me and helped me through it all. I am so proud to see your successes and I hope it continues.
