I have an 8 year old English Bulldog who has been with me almost all day every day since he was 8 weeks. I have recently begun traveling frequently for work and have had to board him while I'm away. I hate having to leave him but know he's well cared for at Raintree. My dog can be a bit extra, but the staff is wonderful and patient with him. Their prices are affordable and it's comforting knowing he is already at the hospital if something were to happen. I also use them for veterinary services and have only had positive experiences with the staff at Raintree.

Dr. Placke and Dr. Chambers are wonderful. My furry babies have been seeing Dr Placke or Dr Chambers for years now and I am confident they are under the best care in Lee's Summit. they always explain options and the pros/cons of each. They are always upfront with cost estimates. Appointments are nearly always on schedule and if there is a delay the staff are great about communicating. I have also boarded at Raintree on a few occasions and my furry babies always come home happy and healthy!

Absolutely love this place and all the people here. Dr Placke has been our vet for over 10 years and even though we don’t live locally anymore, we bring our furbabies here to get their checkups, vaccinations and medications. They are always kind, always able to get us in for an appointment and have always been very caring towards our beloved furbabies.

About 1.5 years ago when we were in town visiting family, our 9 yr old Labrador Percy was attacked and mauled by a vicious Pitt Bull and needed to have surgery and round the clock care for 2 weeks following. This was the only place we’d even consider taking him and trusting with his care. They did an amazing job of taking care of him during that time while he began to heal and recover. He never was quite the same after the attack and we weren’t quite sure how much longer we’d have him with us. As a result of the attack he suffered severe trauma and developed severe anxiety. Almost exactly a year later, our beloved Percy passed away. We took him here and they cremated him for us. They also took prints of his nose and paws at our request. They were very caring and sympathetic for our loss.

When it was time for our male Miniature Schnauzer to be neutered, we brought him here when we were in town during December for the holidays. And we brought our female Border Pointer here to get spayed when we were in town visiting family this Spring. We trust them completely with any and all vet care. We would highly recommend this place for all your animal needs.

I’ve been coming to this vet for almost 5 years for my dog Vice. My mom got a new puppy in August and I suggested that she start coming here with her pet. Each time she has came for a visit they forget to send her home with what the dr talked to her about. I offer to go pick it up for her because I live in raintree. Both times there’s been a bigger girl with curly hair and glasses “helping” me and she is RUDE and dismissive every time. I never have this problem with any other worker. I’m not sure what her problem is with me if it’s racially motivated because she’s always looking at me with disgust but it makes me very uncomfortable.

My dog has been going to Raintree since I adopted her in 2017, and she received great care from the staff for many years. But a recent boarding experience did not even come close to meeting our expectations.

My dog is now 12 years old with multiple diagnosed medical conditions, so she is more fragile and needs more involved daily care. My family and I had planned to go on a weeklong trip, so when I called Raintree to make a reservation for her boarding, I first spent 15 minutes talking on the phone with the receptionist to explain my dog's more fragile state and some of her needs to make sure that they felt confident that they were a good fit and would feel comfortable caring for her needs. I was assured they had no concerns about her needs and that she would be well taken care of.

When I came to pick her up after a week of boarding, she was returned to me with 5 or 6 large, fresh wounds on various parts of her body. A particularly significant gash on her tail was actively oozing pus, and she had a mild fever. The explanation I was given is that she had fallen and hurt herself multiple times while in the boarding facility.

This was a frustrating explanation because I had informed both the receptionist when I called to make a reservation and the kennel attendant who filled out her paperwork with me when I dropped her off that she was a fall risk due to weakness in her hind legs. The injuries obviously occurred over multiple incidents, and while they seem to have identified that slick areas of the kennel floor were the cause of her falls, it doesn't seem like proper precautions were taken to prevent future injury from happening once the first incident occurred.

It's also important to note that with proper care and attention, injuries like this do not occur, because at home, she's never once fallen and hurt herself in a way that has caused wounds anywhere near the size and severity of the injuries that occurred while at Raintree. She also looked incredibly emaciated when I picked her up due severe under eating. When it comes to encouraging her to eat, I understand that the staff is more limited in their options for how to do that, but the addition of the under eating meant that she was returned to me looking incredibly frail and battered after just a single week under their care.

I went into this fully aware that my dog is a special case and has a lot of needs, and would have been understanding if the staff at Raintree did not feel like they could properly care for her and had declined my request for a boarding reservation. But I was assured by multiple staff members that they were well-equipped to provide what she needed, and they ultimately fell incredibly short of what they promised.

To their credit, everyone I interacted with during and after her boarding was kind, and when I pointed out the festering wound on her tail (that they were not aware of until I pointed it out), one of the vets examined her and provided some medication and first aid supplies at no expense.

But ultimately, her safety and care was wholly their responsibility for a week, and they fell incredibly short of the care I was promised and the care she needed. It has been more than 3 weeks since I picked her up from boarding, and due to her age and the significance of the injuries, it will likely be at least another 2-3 weeks before all of her injuries are fully healed.

No boarding stay should require a month-long recovery—but hers will.

I do not believe that anyone at Raintree had negative intentions or that my dog was purposefully neglected—but that doesn't change the fact that neglect undeniably took place, and I will not be returning to Raintree as a result.

Note: I couldn’t even post this review with photos of the injuries because Google flagged them as “graphic,” which should give you an idea of the extent of her injuries.

They were able to get me in as a new patient last minute, which is amazing! The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. I was confident my pup was given the correct diagnosis and wasn't pushed to have any tests that she didn't need.
