We spoke with at least 2-3 trainers before contacting Smarty Paws. Right after my consultation with Debra I knew she was the right choice. We’ve done four training sessions and our puppy’s well socialized/mannered because of it. Smarty paws not only provided training, but education on how to improve our puppy’s life. We are so grateful for Debra! Our family has two elementary age kids and this summer we adopted our first puppy. Before Bailey even came home, Debra spent time with me on the phone answering questions and offering suggestions and support to help us be prepared. Our in-person training sessions began soon after and Debra gave our kids, our puppy and us the education and tools we all needed to be safe and happy together! We did a great deal of research before selecting Smartypaws for the trainer of our puppy. We were not disappointed in our selection. Debra is the real deal. Debra is a knowledgeable and intuitive trainer. We could not be more impressed with Smartypaws. We live 45 minutes from Lee’s Summit and gladly chose to make the drive each week for training (and not only because our dog lived her so much). The small and personal class size allowed for Debra to see where I should tweak something in my training as I interacted with my dog. It has made a huge difference in how quickly our pup has understood what we are asking of her and made life with our growing puppy that much more exciting.

Debra is very knowledgeable about training dogs and working with dogs of all kinds and behaviors. She is excellent in working with families and teaching families how to keep dogs and kids safe together. She has really helped me With our large and hyper golden doodle and our 5 kids, two of which are special needs and requires some extra knowledge and patience. She is very kind and respectful, knowledgeable and helpful and has really helped us make our life with kids and dogs manageable. Debra is the best dog trainer in the KC area. She loves your dog like her own and makes herself available day or night to answer questions about any problems you may be having. Our family has used her to train two dogs now and we receive nothing but compliments on how well behaved our dog is. I worked with Debra years ago with my dog Ruby. I absolutely love her approach. With training she also teaches you how to train so you have the tools to teach your dog anything.
