I have been to 3 different VCAs, one in Oregon, Pearl City (after hours emergency), and here.
All Veterinarians have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Here at Kapolei, they have a different practice I've not seen elsewhere that leaves a negative feeling weeks later.
Before any care is given your pet, you are presented a draft invoice to see the probable cost. (I think that's why there are reviews regarding the high price) Then, you receive a contract to sign Every Single Visit of the total that visit and that you are going to pay.
I was told that people don't pay so all this pre-treatment paperwork is needed, but it made me doubt everything the Veterinarian suggested for my pet. Was she finding ways to up charge me? Or did she really have my pet's best interest in mind.
I have never received a contract or pre-emptive invoice at any other VCAs.
This practice does not make me feel like VCA has my pet's best interest at heart.

It’s taken us a while to calm down from this so that’s why such a late and edited review of this clinic. Our hearts are still very broken and very disturbed but I waited to do a full review so I could give a clearer picture and not
just run on our heartbroken emotions.
In 2019 we had interactions with this clinic and its emergency clinic as they prescribed medication for my dog. My dog started foaming at the mouth and went lethargic shortly after the first dose of the prescribed medication, she was having a reaction to the medication , because it was after hours we drove him to the VCA emergency after hours clinic, they examined our little girl. The told us she was just nauseous from the medication and gave her a shot of anti nausea and said she would be ok in the morning and to try and give her the next dose of medication in the morning. We went home and we all went to bed. I woke up after couple hours and my girl had died. I found out shortly after that there is medication that should have been given during the emergency visit that would have stopped the reaction to the initial medication prescribed and she likely would have not died. The next day we went back to the vet to get a refund ( close to $900 spent ) on the medication that killed our dog and we were denied, in fact they really didn’t seem to care that they killed our dog. We will never step foot inside a VCA clinic anywhere now. Any clinic we go to now with our new dog we question everything and are very skeptical of medications, we never let our new dog out of our site at a clinic now. The VCA clinic should have been held responsible for our little girls death. I think that they don’t care and I think they have some malpractice happening in there clinics. I will never trust VCA clinics again. Be Very Cautious! There are Much better Veterinarians on the island and I’m sure, on the mainland as well.

RIP my sweet little girl, I’m so sorry I didn’t investigate deeper and look for better veterinarians.

My dog was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer) almost a year ago. During the whole time we used a different veterinarian. Well tonight, he went into rapid decline and we needed to get him euthanized immediately so he didn't suffer. We were turned down by our primary vet and 3 others because they stated we needed an appointment. When I called VCA kapolei, I feel as if they heard the desperation in my voice and told me to come in right away. They were able to get all the paperwork done and were waiting for us to arrive. The staff was wonderful in giving us the time to say goodbye. The vet in charge of putting our dog down explained every step of the process and acted extremely professional and patient even with my wife being uncontrollably emotional. If we lived closer, this would be our go to vet.

Thank you again VCA for making an extremely emotional process easier.

I brought my dog in for an infected hot spot and a leg injury. I was so scared that the two were related, and I had just lost my younger brother very suddenly a week earlier, and... to put it bluntly, I was a mess. I sat down in the exam room, started crying, and didn't stop. The entire conversation on my end was conducted through tears. But I was met with nothing but extraordinary kindness and compassion from the staff that helped me. They talked me through what was wrong, gave me a detailed cost breakdown of treatment and multiple options, and were incredibly patient with me even as I was beating myself up for not noticing the hot spot earlier. During the most difficult time of my life, the staff at VCA Kapolei provided much-needed compassionate care to my dog- who is now back up and making messes. My sincere thanks to all involved.

Comfortable atmosphere for both pet and owner. Compassionate staff. Great service. My little guy didn't make it because he was born with a bad kidney 😩 they also provide cremation services. I received my puppy home three days later. Satisfied and thankful for their services. Will definitely keep coming here for our future pet services.

I took my cat, Oreo, because he had a laceration under his arm. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The vet texted me the day after Oreo got his stitches and I received various phone call check ins throughout the 2 week healing time by staff. To me- that level of customer service makes the difference in quality of care. They were expensive buuuut also flexible with a payment plan to help my fur family afford the services. Mahalo a million times over! 🐾💕

VCA Kapolei is a hidden gem when it comes to pet care in the Kapolei area. My puppy, Lucky, has been a regular visitor for the past 2 years, and I couldn't be happier with the care he receives here. The veterinarians, nurses, and front desk staff are not only friendly but also incredibly patient and attentive.

I've had the opportunity to utilize Trupanion Insurance a few times at VCA Kapolei, and I must say, their seamless integration with the insurance provider is fantastic. It's a relief to know that Lucky is well-covered, especially with the basic and dental plan options they offer for comprehensive care.
