If I could give a half of a star I would. We have been going to West County Animal Clinic for years and after our most recent experience we are switching vets. In September our 11.5 year old lab mix got a bladder infection. We took her to the vet once with a urine sample we brought in. She was put on medicine and we were sent home. A couple of days later she is not getting better and we end up taking her to VSS to get something to sedate her until we could get back to West County Animal Clinic. We took her back the next day (Wednesday 9/18) and she spent the day there and we were told it was a bladder infection and were given a stronger medication. Thursday after work she is doing terrible. Doesn't seem with it, couldn't get her to eat, doing our best to keep her comfortable but knowing that this was probably the end. Friday morning (9/20) we called the vet first thing to say we needed to put her down and were told to bring her in at 10:00. At 9:30 we receive a call from the vet's office saying that the vet does not think it's time for us to put our dog down. We show up at 10:00 anyway because if they can't do it we will go to VSS to have it done. After having a guilt trip pretty heavily laid on us (as if we are not upset enough having to make this decision and did not make it lightly) they put her down. I asked that we have a paw print made so I have something of her to keep. Fast forward to today when my husband called to see if it was ready (since they never called us to say if it was) he goes to pick it up and it is cracked into multiple pieces. Pretty much $1000 and a week later I have lost my dog and the last thing I would have of her is broken..... Just like my heart.

This is a caring, thoughtful group of professionals and I'm glad we found them. We recently had to put our cat, and then 14 year old dog down and they handled everything with respect and dignity. So many local vets feel like you are just getting fleeced. I highly recommend this group.

Absolutely adore the staff here! So professional and well managed. The new building is emaculate and my pups are always well taken care of! Dr. Patterson is a joy and we couldn't hope for a better doc taking care of our fur babies! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the well being of the area's pets!

Oh my goodness this clinic goes above and beyond! They provide excellent service and really care about the animal and their owner. I have taken my large anxious dog here and they are so understanding and sweet with her! Thank you for all you do! You really make a difference.

Everyone at the WCAC is so kind and friendly! Dr Stacy is knowledgeable, honest and considerate. She goes out of her way to be helpful as we care and love our pets. I’m so grateful for this clinic! Highly recommend!

My family and I have used this clinic for over 35 years. Dr. Steinberg was the best vet ever!! This clinic hasn’t been the same since he sold it to Dr. Bender. I left this clinic after my diabetic dog was misdiagnosed by Dr. Patterson- who has a terrible bedside manner- and one of the techs (Renee) called my pup a “fatty”. I took my diabetic dog to Fox Creek Animal Hospital for critical care treatment when she had diabetic ketoacidosis and they took the best care of my girl! I switched all of my pups to Fox Creek and couldn’t be happier!!!
Edit response to your response: I never told you that I lost my Lola- one week ago today- so not sure how you know that info- but thank you for your condolences. While I have given Dr. Bender and WCAC great reviews on my own FB page in the past, the care that we received before I left WCAC declined- the treatment and care given is not the same as it was when Dr. Steinberg owned this clinic. I didn’t leave your clinic “over a year ago” - it’s been about 9-10 months since I had all of my dogs’ records transferred to my new vet hospital. I feel like I have a right to speak up on behalf of all of my pups- that’s why I’m posting now. One of my pups had uncontrollable diarrhea in October, 2023. I called to see if she could be seen that day because she was sick- and was told to come pick up some Fortiflora powder and she could be seen the next day. I ended up taking her to VSS that same evening to get the meds that I knew that she needed (Cerenia and Flagyl). My Italian Greyhound needed a dental and Dr. Bender said it wouldn’t cost much since he had very few teeth. When I dropped him off for the dental, I was told it would cost over $900- until I scaled it down to less than $400 because bloodwork and other things had been put on the estimate- but he had just had his bloodwork done 2 months prior to the dental. With Lola, Dr. Patterson put my girl on estrogen when she in fact was diabetic and should have been started on insulin. I know a lot of people who use WCAC and they all agree that Dr. Patterson is a detriment to your clinic. When Lola got really sick last December, I chose to take her to Fox Creek for critical care treatment. They hospitalized her due to her having diabetic ketoacidosis. Dr. Bender told me that I should go pick her up and take her home until she could evaluate her the next day. Had I followed Dr. Bender’s advice, Lola would have most likely died that night. Lola needed critical care that couldn’t be provided by West County Animal Clinic because they don’t provide overnight vet services. They used to do so- when Dr. Steinberg owned the clinic. I was so impressed by the way that Fox Creek handled Lola’s health issues that I chose to change my vet care to them. While I’m heartbroken that I lost my Lola, I know that I made the right choice for her to switch vets. Not sure why I still get e-mail reminders from WCAC and I also received a phone call on November 12th to remind me that my pups have vaccines due. Why would I even be in your system if I haven’t been a client for at least 9 months Also, your clinic hours are all over the place. Some days you’re open until 7, some days it’s 6 or 5 or 4. One year ago you closed your clinic at 3pm on Halloween so that your staff could get their children ready to go trick or treating. How is that acceptable when you’re running a vet clinic? So glad to have an amazing group of vets and techs who are there for me 7 days a week- with consistent hours of 8am-8pm!!!

I moved to West County 3.5 years ago and needed a vet for my two German Shepherds. We were lucky enough to find West County Animal Clinic. The Veterinarians here are top notch. I want to point out my interactions with Dr. Dolan. She is a compassionate and patient vet that clearly cares about the animals she treats. I appreciate her willingness to answer questions and follow up after visits I've had. I've gone to many different vets over the last 10 years and West County Animal Clinic definitely stands out! I highly recommend them.
