We have been with Pawfection Dog Training for almost three years. It began when Pennie met us at home with our 5-month-old puppy Marigold, offering solutions and sharing her wealth of knowledge.
When Marigold reached 9 months old, we enrolled in therapy dog training. We had a few challenges, but Darryl, Pennie, and the team of trainers were supportive, patient, and helpful.
Since graduating, we have regularly attended many therapy events, which are always well-organized, and rewarding.
In addition to therapy training, we have enjoyed the Saturday morning agility and obedience sessions.
Recently, we also started search training, and we are excited about this new endeavor.
The trainers at Pawfection are not only knowledgeable, but genuinely care about the dogs and their handlers.
We highly recommend Pawfection Dog Training to anyone looking for expert guidance and support.

I rarely leave negative reviews—this is only the second one I’ve ever written—but I feel it’s important to share my experience. I chose Penny & Daryl after interviewing 4 other dog trainers because they had extensive experience and offered support for both puppy training and behavioral issues. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

For $700, I received two in-home visits. The first consisted mostly of a PowerPoint presentation and recommendations to purchase citronella collars—no hands-on training or demonstrations were provided. The second visit was delayed due to rescheduling and was equally frustrating. Rather than helping address the issues I was struggling with, they focused on placing blame, were dismissive of my concerns, and still offered no direct work with my dogs other than a short five min walk outside with one of the two puppies.

Their approach relies heavily on giving lots of “homework,” but they provide little to no demonstration of how to implement it. Despite my efforts, my dogs’ behavior has not improved, and I’ve been left feeling overwhelmed and unsupported. I expected professionalism, empathy, and hands-on guidance, and unfortunately, that’s not what I received. I would not recommend their services. Total waste of money. 😕

I was first referred to Pawfection for in-home puppy training and had a fantastic session with Pennie. It was packed with helpful information and practical guidance to ensure a smooth transition with my new puppy. What stood out most was the use of only positive reinforcement—no yelling, no shock collars—just patience, love, and respect for my dog.

Unfortunately, I’ve had negative experiences in the past with other trainers who used harsh methods that left my dog timid and fearful. Pawfection was the complete opposite—calm, knowledgeable, and encouraging.

During my in-home session, I was invited to a free group class. At first, I declined due to the distance (a 45-minute drive!), but we decided to give it a try. After that first class with Darryl and Pennie, my puppy and I were hooked. He had so much fun learning obedience, agility, and socialization that we kept going—and ended up continuing group classes for two years!
We especially loved the agility training. My dog didn’t see it as work—it was pure joy for him. We’ve recently transitioned into search/scent classes, and even just one month in, I’m already seeing growth in his search abilities. He’s always excited to arrive at class and has a blast while learning.

Next up for us is Therapy Dog training, and I can say with complete confidence: Pawfection is the only training company I will trust with my fur baby.

Pawfection dog training is amazing!! Penny did an in home training for my dogs aggressive barking. My older dog would start barking at something she would get the younger dog to start barking, and then she would go on the attack of the younger dog for the barking. Needless to say when you have two dogs going at each other it’s a little overwhelming and scary. Penny came in started her training within the two hours. I can honestly say the dogs are no longer aggressively barking at the front door. I can actually open it now without them you know attacking, no more barking at the pool filter bubbles at the jets total different behavior. thank you very much Penny bravo 👏👏👏 seriously it was totally worth the money. It’s an investment in your pet.

Pawfection dog training has just been great.
We have been taking our 7 month old Aussie-doodle Flash to obedience and agility training since he was 3 months old. He has learned so much.... and so have we.
Owners Darryl and Penny are so knowledgeable. In my opinion this reasonable priced dog training is a must for anyone that wants a well trained dog. Start earlier the better.
Trainers take the time to help each and every owner. Its obvious how much they want these dogs to be happy and trained.

Pawfection has been a huge asset to me and my pup’s life! When Brooks was a puppy, Darryl came to do in-home training to work on Brooks’s excessive barking, lunging on his leash, and overall high energy level (he’s half Malinois). One session was all we needed to curb the barking and learn to work on leash manners. I also had more confidence as his owner to teach him these things. Best decision ever!

Because of that, we then started Pawfection’s group agility training, and it was so great for Brooks to have an outlet for his energy while also learning obedience skills. The agility courses are different every week, so you’re always learning something new or encountering a new challenge for you and your dog to work through. I’ll be putting my second dog in agility in the fall. I can’t recommend Pawfection enough!!

Pawfection has the BEST therapy dog training program in the country! Darryl and Pennie have the utmost knowledge in dog behavior and training and care greatly about their service to the community. I have been coming for 4 years and participate in agility and obedience classes every week and am active in the therapy dog program. I totally recommend them for any and all training for your pups!!!

My husband and I heard about Pawfection and Darryl by listening to Real Radio 104.1. We enrolled our puppy as soon as she was a few weeks into their puppy agility class, and cannot say enough good things about it! The amount of learning she has had, as well as my husband and I during the in-house training as well as these classes are invaluable. We love this team and everyone on it and look forward to advancing to the therapy class with them.
